I WOULD like to take this opportunity to clarify some uncertainty and confusion regarding Councillors setting aside an objection to speed humps being installed on Farm Road in Cowdenbeath. (Page 2 in last week’s CFT and online comments on page 13).

Earlier this year, the four local Councillors that represent the Cowdenbeath Ward were asked to attend a public meeting to discuss ongoing concerns with on-street parking and work alongside the residents to find solutions.

During the meeting, concerns regarding speeding vehicles was brought up and my fellow Councillors and I took this on board and agreed to address this as well.

Farm Road has since been on the agenda both at Ward Meetings and Cowdenbeath Area Committee Meetings.

The on-street parking issue is more complex that we anticipated and is not as easy to resolve as we’d like, however, the speeding issue has been a lot simpler to address and it was agreed Fife Council would install two speed humps subject to residents' approval.

I’d like to reassure the objector and other local residents from the surrounding area, who travel along Farm Road, that there are two issues: speeding and parking. One has now been addressed and the other is still in progress.

If you are a Farm Road resident and wish to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. cllr.darren.watt@fife.gov.uk
