THE recent article under ‘Politician’s Opinion’ certainly raises a few questions.

Who is this man? Where has he been for the last 34 years while Mossmorran continues to burn?

His article appears like that of the band of nondescript politicians who wish to say, politically, the right things regarding Mossmorran problems but appear to do little, if anything, about them.

Mr Grant would have been well aware of the public meeting organised by the Mossmorran Action Group in May in Lochgelly Town Hall, but, like ExxonChemical, did not to attend. That, to me, says a lot regarding his involvement with the Mossmorran problem. Is he happy to speak to Exxon but not to the local public, the very people who elected him?

Mr Grant does not enlighten us on the outcomes of his meeting with ExxonChemical. Perhaps he could tell us what, if anything, his meeting achieved. Maybe he can also give marks out of ten for the coffee and biscuits.

I am also mystified by his comment ‘I have little time for those who seek to use understandable public concern in support of their own private agendas.’ Perhaps he would like to expand on this crass statement and inform us of what or who this statement refers to.

As I see it, local communities are at the end of their tether with the ongoing, never-ending Mossmorran situation. We are lucky we have genuine politicians fighting our corner.

MSPs Mark Ruskell, Alex Rowley and Annabelle Ewing; MP Lesley Laird, Councillors Linda Erskine and Linda Holt and Mary Bain Lockhart have all been outstanding with their support for our local communities.

It should be noted that these politicians are from a mix of political parties, so decency, rather than politics is their main concern. Mossmorran Action Group, with its 2,296 members is also actively committed to fighting local communities’ corner.

So, Mr Grant, don’t bother us with your crocodile tears, if you are really concerned about Mossmorran then step up to the mark and be seen to be doing something constructive to help.

JOE PURVES,

McKenzie Crescent,

Lochgelly.
