I FULLY agree with Cardenden Community Council's stance on the housing proposals for site at Woodend.
I would imagine that the developers know what they are doing but the fact is that the recent flooding during periods of heavy rain must be a real warning of how the fields where the houses are proposed to go will react to our weather getting worse.
I am aware that there are ways of combatting this with the use of raft foundations but these don't come cheaply.
If the project gets the go ahead the developers will have to ensure that the land the new houses are going to be placed on will drain well, which it never ever has.
It will take a lot of investment to get this stretch of land to drain well and that could lead to steeper costs for the homes.
No doubt that will all be explained at the open day at the Bowhill Centre on September 3 and it will be interesting what comes from that.
