THE way that the problems caused by vandals at Lochore Meadows Country Park have been tackled by the community is really refreshing.

The impact that the fire way back in June had was quite a difficult one and it was good the way that the Benarty Events Group took the blow on the chin and just got on with it.

Maybe without the input of the business people who got the replacement public toilets for those destroyed by the fire it could be been a real struggle to get the Gala Day on.

However, it is what happened that counts and it was all systems go which was good for all concerned.

You know, amid the joy of the gala going ahead as planned the damage caused to the car park was probably largely forgotten about by most people.

However, it was brilliant that Mr Mackie took up the cudgels and has made it as good as new.

The other recent attack on the park, with the heating system being tampered with, was another very strange situation and you wonder what these people think about when they carry out these acts of sabotage.

Of course the nature of a country park means that it is difficult to protect everything from vandals, or people with mischief on their mind.

You cannot have security people on 24 hours a day but maybe these perpetrators might wake up and realise all they are doing is damaging something that is their own.

The park is a beautiful facility and it belongs to everyone and should not be treated with disrespect.
