GOOD to see that the new Community Council is taking up the issue of Lochgelly's inadequate health centre.

It seems a long time since the suggestion was made that the green area in Francis Street would be a good site for it.

It seemed at that stage that things were starting to happen, especially with local MSP Annabelle Ewing joining in support of the moves.

But then all of a sudden things grind to a halt and really there has been very little positive coming out of the Scottish Government of late on this.

The Community Council, hopefully, will get plenty of people telling them about their midwinter sojourns down to David Street in frost and snow or the fog.

If enough folk tell their stories this should give the council a reasonable case to present to the Government.

Now is the time that something needs to be done. As the Community Council secretary pointed out the population of the town is growing and really it is heading towards 10,000 again, yet the Health Centre was built when it was probably nearer 8,000.

All it needs is another couple of planning applications to be passed and the total would be moving forward fast.

The Community Council needs the support of the public to make their campaign work so hopefully over the next few weeks things will gather momentum and they will get the ammunition to make a good case that this is something that needs to be tackled sooner rather than later.

HEALTHWISE,

South Street,

Lochgelly.
