I AM glad to see that the Crime Prevention Panel is keeping the pressure on speeders and illegal parkers.

Bad parkers are everywhere in our area, both Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly are plagued by it.

Lochgelly is chaotic every day time morning. The thing is that the council has carefully created new parking bays on Bank Street with time posts.

But you just have to go down there any day to see that it is basically being ignored by drivers.

Some cars are there for hours so without parking attendants that is not going to work.

Then there is the mayhem that happens in Francis Street/Knockhill Close daily with cars being carelessly left at best and abandoned at worst.

The little car park has capacity for six cars plus one disabled space but often it can have nine vehicles parked there and I would bet that the disabled bay is seldom used by a blue badge holder.

Then you look at East Main Street it is even worse. With vehicles being allowed to park either side of the road it can be quite awkward for big vans and especially as it is a bus route, sometimes bus drivers must really hate having to drive along this short stretch.

Meanwhile in Cowdenbeath the new look to High Street is nice but still people just turn their heads at parking regulations.

I am just waiting for the time when some drivers start parking on the pavement at the new Green Square.

The new look road network linked to Pit Road also is abused by stock car fans. On a Saturday night they just park on the new pavements and when there are really big meetings it is literally chaos with all the pavements used for parking near the Racewall and Stenhouse Street is also semi blocked.

The speeding aspect is something which is as difficult as illegal parking to tackle.

The 20mph zones are ignored by most of the drivers in both towns which are a real hazard and power to the panel if they can help persuade people to do stick to limits. Good luck to them.

PHANTON QUILL,

Main Street,

Lochgelly.
