SO the Over 75s are soon to have to pay for their television licences.
I know that Joe Paterson got a lot of support locally for the petition appealing for the Government and BBC to keep things as they are.
The announcement last week that the BBC were going to end the Over 75s free scheme will have been a big disappointment for Joe and Lochore Old People’s Welfare Council.
The TV licence is something that most folk take for granted but for pensioners it is something that can be so vital to their everyday life.
It could be something that is pretty concerning for many local Over 75s but at least there is plenty of pressure being applied on the BBC from a lot of powerful people.
There will be a lot of things going on before it is accepted by the OAP organisations and the BBC and Westminster Government will be under a lot of pressure to change their ideas.
It will be a bit yet before the BBC get their way hopefully and maybe the Over 75s will keep their free TV licenses.
