I WAS at the meeting last Friday when there were a lot of good points brought up by the public and folk on the panel.
But for me the biggest worry was the statement that came from one panellist that as long as there is feedstock the site will keep going.
Really that is a big concern, indeed for everyone.
If it been stated that the plants had another five years left then you say OK might be some problems but then it will be over.
I thought that surely it will cost Shell and Exxon more in repairs to keep the two operations going but maybe it won't.
The lady from Shell did say that her company was intending to have a steady maintenance schedule to ensure that their side of the fence keeps going without causing too many problems. A good theory but will it happen?
Because there were no people from Exxon there we never heard what their plans for maintenance was. Maybe it will be the same, or will it?
The people who aired their disappointment at the lack of rep from Exxon were right, it kind of took a lot of meaning out of the night and left us with a huge hole in what we could take from the meeting.
Hopefully there will not be a need for another meeting like that one. If the new boss at Mossmorran is right there maybe be no more flaring. Let us hope so, but somehow I kind of doubt it.
COMPLETELY CONCERNED,
Stenhouse Street,
Cowdenbeath.
