AT the Mossmorran meeting I was disappointed to see my local councillor, Kathleen Leslie, missing from the audience.
My MP Lesley Laird managed to attend as did many other MSPs and Fife Councillors, who listened first hand to the suffering, frustration and anger I and many others have faced from the emergency flaring.
Some of the impacts people reported was shocking, and the the ducking and diving by SEPA, Shell, HSE, NHS Fife and some politicians didn’t do them any favours.
At least they had the good grace to show up, unlike ExxonMobil, who boycotted the meeting and were rightly condemned for it.
What further sticks in the craw is that Cllr Leslie serves on the Mossmorran Safety Committee, which is the official group set-up to listen to, and address local concerns. She very rarely attends the meetings and when she does, is on record that she has received no complaints from residents.
I doubt it will come as a surprise that although she doesn’t attend these meetings and couldn’t be bothered to go to the public meeting on Friday, she doesn’t seem to have any issues attending the freebies ExxonMobil chucks her way.
At the Fife Council debate calling for an independent study into the environmental, health and social impacts from Mossmorran, she was the only councillor to leave during the debate. Speaks volumes
She holds me and her other constituents in contempt and I for one will never vote for her again.
KEITH ALLISON,
Burntisland.
