RE-flaring at Mossmorran, data given to Nicola Sturgeon amounted, I understand, to one single monitored report on air quality for particulate matter, taken at Copeland Crescent, Cowdenbeath, for one single four hour interval on April 22. Results-'No concern'.

Has anyone checked wind speed and direction at the time this report was taken as the specific four hour period was not mentioned.

Copeland Crescent is well to the north west of the Mossmorran plants, not exactly down wind as say Lochgelly.

Surely all these secure reports could be assessed better by members of the public, by giving them some kind of monitoring kit. There are many on the market to buy.

I know many would willingly, including myself, monitor air pollution from my house. But heaven forbid, any organisation would allow me to monitor, as my house overlooks the A909 and Mossmorran plants. Pity we could not send in a DNA swab from our homes? But to whom? Who to trust? Are we all being taken for fools?

To regain Public Trust, monitors are needed, but to be used by members of the public, especially those that feel they are getting the 'blast of the pollution'.

But surely there is a simple 'strip' test, perhaps similar to urine/blood test strips?

In the USA workers have badges that change colour. You know? That kind of simplicity!

The one monitoring report sent to Nicola Sturgeon was above? Why? Come on folks get writing and checking.

I too have written, in graphic detail to Nicola Sturgeon, about many aspects, not even covered by all this hassle, or should I say 'hazzard'? Why?

From all local folk contacting me of late the emotions involved are anger, stress and fear!

Do not, I implore you, let apathy grow.

Everyone of you can make a difference, by standing up and being counted, by logging, and noting facts, by writing not email, to the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.

By explaining how it is affecting you and your family. We are all to blame if we sit and do nothing.

As questions, what happens if there is an explosion (look up Shell Netherlands 2014).

What happens if evacuation, if there is an emergency involved for the whole area. If you don't ask you will never know.

By having to answer all our queries re the Shell/Exxon plants, we may get our eyes opened to all that is going on.

But their plants just cannot keep refusing to answer any questions and despite 'final warnings' still be allowed to continue with their 'could not care less' attitude.

So instead of buying gas/face masks masks try and demand for monitoring/detection kits for points nearest the plant and Lochgelly downwind.

I wonder what the results would be? So those in charge I defy, why not give these trustworthy monitors a try?

Any air monitor/detecting apparatus would allay fears and give us all a a sense of being a bit in control.

For right now Shell/Exxon hold the complete reigns, the absolute control. They ignore all and sundry

Again I say it is up to us all, remember each and everyone of you has power, use it to benefit all in the area. Please write to me if you have any further suggestions.

Exxon/Mobil say that their BAT method of reporting ensures that keep a close examination of the operations of the Ethane Cracker and their aim is to minimise flaring if they can, although it is a key part of the safety mechanism at Mossmorran. The Ed.
