AS people who read this page will know I'm continually berating Fife Council's recycling as it continually falls below 85%, a not unreasonable target to aim for, but, to be fair, in some instances they're not helped by the fact that many people continually disregard the proper recycling bins, or indeed, continue to fly tip.

However, as I always urge through your letter's page to recycle as much as possible I'm glad that the council have decided against plans to introduce a special glass collection bin.

I always dispose of my glass through the local recycling facilities, but I realise that this isn't possible for everyone (not everybody has access to recycling points) so I can understand why they would deposit their glass waste in the landfill bin.

There are many reasons for not having these particular bins, but surely the most important one is the almost definite vandalism issue. If setting fire to wheelie bins was an Olympic event then Cowdenbeath would win a gold medal.

Can you imagine how much damage could be done by your local neds having free access to glass bottles to throw around the streets?--I shudder to think.
