I READ your article last week about trying to encourage people to go to the local woodlands.

What a really great idea it is for I have been someone who has been up Harran Hill regularly and the views you get are really stunning.

Also I have been in Blairadam and the Den in Cardenden and it really is quite amazing what we have on our doorstep.

Maybe because we have such facilities as the Meedies and these facilities on our doorstep we don't actually appreciate them enough.

The woods are great places to enjoy a good stroll. Clearly some are flatter than others and going up any hill will test you but if you achieve it you get a great feeling.

So I would urge folk to think about taking a visit to one of our nice wooded areas.

As I say there are some lovely bits in Cardenden and these are very attractive.

The thing about visiting woodland is that it costs you nothing bar your travelling to and from where you have gone so it is literally well worth thinking about it this spring and summer.
