GREAT news that the Save the Cage group are now working with the people at the Scottish Mining Museum.

While they will be unhappy that their original target has been snatched away by the Fife Mining Heritage Group it really does not matter in the big picture if the Mining Museum is going to back them.

There must be a lot of items over at Newtongrange that they cannot display through a lack of space.

So the STC group will need the money that they have raised to be able to transport whatever is donated to the Meedies cause to the park.

It truly shows that this idea can and will work and maybe within the next few months we will see additional mining heritage at the park.

To get a cage may be possible but it probably will not be as big as the one that worked at the Frances, but no matter, it will be something that worked in the coal industry and that it the key element.

So all power to Mr Chalmers and his group, they are doing well and should be congratulated.
