PARKINSON'S UK’s is hosting a unique evening reception for anyone interested in Scotland’s role at the cutting edge of the latest research into Parkinson’s.

Parkinson's will affect a number of people in the Central Fife Times readership area.

It’s hoped the event will attract more than 100 guests at the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel on the evening of Thursday July 23.

Everyone coming along will be welcomed with champagne and canapes and be entertained by a stunning string quartet.

Then it’ll be time to hear about exciting pioneering Scottish Parkinson’s Research Network.

We’ll be joined by Parkinson’s UK Scotland Director, Annie Macleod, who’ll give an insight into the changing role of the charity and our work in Scotland.

As well as neurology clinics, teaching roles being Clinical Director for the UK Parkinson's Excellence Network, I am involved as an investigator in the ground-breaking Tracking Parkinson's study - the world’s largest in-depth study to improve understanding of the condition.

Scotland plays a leading role in so many aspects of Parkinson’s research and I look forward to discussing our achievements, successes and hope for the future at the reception. Like so many of my clinical and research colleagues I believe we are on the cusp of major breakthroughs in our understanding of Parkinson’s. This holds out real hope for better treatments. Anyone interested in the progress being made in Parkinson's will thoroughly enjoy the reception and I hope as many people as possible can come along.

This is a fantastic opportunity for people to enjoy a relaxing and entertaining evening and at the same time find out more about research and Parkinson’s UK in Scotland.

DR DONALD GROSSET,

Clinical Director of the UK Parkinson's

Excellence Network.
