IT was good to hear how the former site of the Lochgelly North School is to be where a new nursery is to be built.

The site has been empty for quite a long time and it really needs to be brought back into action for it is a good spot in the town.

The council is at least recognising the continuing rise in Lochgelly's population is bound to put pressure on the spaces that are in the nurseries like the Sunflower and at the primary schools.

Obviously this new nursery is not going to appear overnight but it is supposed to be in place by 2020 which would be around the same time that the new housing estate on the eastern edge of the town is nearing completion.

Over 100 new homes there I believe so extra school space and nursery space is very much needed.

You know when you look at the three primary schools in Lochgelly they are pretty old buildings and maybe at least one of them will need replacing sooner rather than later.

To get a new nursery will be a good start though and as I said, it is a really good site albeit like most school sites the road network around it is not the best.

This is going to be a boost for the town though and I would say the council deserve praise for recognising the need and coming up with this plan which will go a long way to helping nursery provision in Lochgelly has to be something that people will appreciate.
