THE people of Crossgates have every right to be proud of the Taft.

What has to be remembered though, is that this was something that the late Robert Arnott championed and he would be really pleased to see the appeal put out for help seeing 15 people come forward to help out with the maintenance of the woodland.

What Robert was pleased about was that the community worked together to ensure that the Taft became the first Community Land buy out in Scotland.

It meant a lot of hard work but it was achieved but of course there is a lot more hard work to be done.

The on the ground projects that are needed are a great deal but the more volunteers available the more that can be achieved.

Look at the Cowdenbeath Community Woodland, a small team manage to achieve miracles in it, despite the efforts of vandals burning plastic bins, and a team of 15 volunteers should really see the Taft look superb this summer.

All the letters that they have put out around the village should hopefully see even more than the 15 get involved and increase the amount of small features that can be seen in the woodland.

I think your story said that the woodland volunteers are joining in with the Greenfingers Group so that should lead to even more good work done.

So this project is heading on the right track for sure and if Robert is looking down he will be very proud of what is happening.
