IT is about a year now since I enquired about the Town House, in Cowdenbeath, being made into a museum.

I suggested anyone who wanted/needed to donate miners' items and or Black Watch memorabilia that it would be ideal as this building is itself history.

The material would be a legacy for future generations.

In the Times of March 7 2019 I noticed an article from the Fife Mining Heritage Group. This Group is truly struggling for premises so wouldn't the Town House now not only help but show that the council, for once they actually care about the past.

The members of this wonderful and inspiring group, with all the work and strain, from the past, deserve a great break in more ways than one.

Again, I was promised in this paper, by councillors and others alike, that the Town House would not be demolished and it would always be a listed building (this last year). Quite so, but one year later nothing has been heard of what they are doing at all!

Surely there is someone in an 'official' part of the council who has a heart.

Well here is a great chance to prove it. In the meantime, with all the properties empty on our High Street could not this council of ours lend out one of these properties (for free), to the above worthy group?

I know what it is like to have a lack of space and yet have so much Heritage to put forward, especially to younger generations coming up.

Painted shutters and decorations will never confirm to the people of Cowdenbeath that the council has our 'will' at heart.

It is about time they show some compassion. Let us start first with helping out the above group and assure our heritage and keep our legacy.

The 'legacy' of all the hard working men, the miners, a pride we all have.

For all those men who worked and died in our mines, we all owe them that.
