WESTFIELD has been a running story in this area for more than 50 years.
I can remember as a youngster my mum and dad telling about the infamous 'Westfield smell' caused by the huge piles of coal waiting to be shipped out of the opencast site.
Now it is in the news for a different reason, a somewhat controversial plan to build a waste incinerator plant at the site.
I believed that this was to be a 'green' site now but surely an incinerator is against this!
