IN the Bible Jesus says 'Take my yoke upon you for I am meek and lowly of heart and you shall fund rest for your souls', but in 2018 a report said that public interest in religion is declining.

In the Bible St Paul refers to the task in hand, speaking of 'casting down imaginations and everything that excelleth against the Knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ'.

Is the battle being lost today? There is much good in scripture to inspire and motivate for the better, but there is a central core which some modern minds may find worrying.

St Paul says scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and instruction in righteousness.

Central to scripture is the Second Coming of the Son of Man, whom Jesus says will be accompanied by 'the abomination of desolations' spoken of by the prophet Daniel when the sun will be darkened, the moon will not shine and stars fall from the Heavens.

On the same subject St Peter speaks of the Old Testament world world which God destroyed, St Peter reminding all that despite God's promise to Noah and his generational seed, the 'new' earth is stored, reserved unto fire, against the Day of Judgement, the Second Coming and the perdition of ungodly men.

What are we today in today's modern world, to make of this doomsday, end of the world scenario set out in Bible scripture?

If the public interest in religion is declining, is fault with religious leaders who day in day out seek to emulate St Paul in 'bringing to captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ?'
