IT was a sad day on Sunday December 16 when the Fife Inter Clubs Association had its last event with the Christmas Party at the Bowhill Hotel.

It ended 20 years of activity for the Association who had run the highly popular Talent Contest which spanned each year over two decades.

There was also the gala day each summer which saw dozens of children have a great day out at Craigtoun Park, St Andrews, and there was then the Christmas parties for youngsters and senior citizens.

So it was really a sad day for myself and our remaining committee but I personally have been struggling to fulfuill all the committees I am on and there were not any younger people coming through to take things on.

So it really is the end for our various events and our Christmas party at the Bowhill Hotel went tremendously well.

My son Kevin managed to put together a wee memento for the committee members in the shape of a display of all the clubs who worked in the Inter Clubs Association from 1998 to the last day.

These were, Leven British Legion, Methil Ex-Servicemen's Club, Methil Bowling Club, the CISWO Glenrothes, the Gunner Club Kirkcaldy, Kinglassie Institute, Bowhill War Memorial Club, The Shelter Cardenden, Bowhill Hotel, the Minto Club Lochgelly, the Royal Oak Lochgelly, Kelty Ex-Servicemen's, Rosyth Ex-Servicemen's, Dunfermline British Legion and Valleyfield Club.

We thank them for their participation and for taking part in the many events that we had over these 20 years.

However, we are now at the end of the road and it is very sad for us all that this day has come.
