IT is really good how so many communities are getting their own Christmas lights.

The people who are guiding this need a lot of praising.

It used to be just Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly who had lights but now we have Benarty, Kelty, Cardenden, Lumphinnans and Hill of Beath getting that extra festive feel.

Hopefully Crossgates will get their sparkling lights back in 2019.

The thing is that these lights do not just spring up. Some people still think it is the council that makes this happen.

It is not it is volunteers from the communities that make this happen by a lot of fundraising.

I read in the Times that Cowdenbeath's lights cost £10,000 while Lochgelly's were £7,000 so it is not easy to for the community groups, who have to work at raising the money.

In Benarty Glencraig this year have their first lights which will be appreciated by the residents of this small community.

So it is a huge well done to every community, the volunteers deserve backing so no one should think that there is no reason to put their loose change in a collecting tin, every penny counts.

FESTIVE,

Centre Street,

Kelty.
