I AM bound to say that I am not surprised at the warning that has been issued by the water board.
I think people have become complacent with the awful summers of recent years and think that water is plentiful.
Putting the sprinkler on has been something which has been very easy for folk worried about their plants or lawn
The fact is that that is posing problems because some folk just switch the tap on and just leave it. A couple of hours is more than enough.
Probably folk have forgotten how valuable water is because of the terrible summer weather of recent years.
The water people are rightly making moves to head off a problem because unless they make people aware of the dangers that could lie ahead wastefulness will just go on unchecked.
The Lochgelly Gala people will be hoping that the sunshine remains at least until after their big day and it might.
But if it does then water shortages could come to pass and the hose pipes will have to be put away.
So Scottish Water are quite right to tell people of the dangers now and maybe head off problems that can come up in the future.
WATER WATCHER,
Cowdenbeath.
