IT was encouraging to hear local MSP Annabelle Ewing saying that Fife was getting a significant sum to sort the road damage caused by the winter.

No doubt the roads department will have to look at the county as a whole but hopefully the worst areas will be tackled first no matter where they may be.

To be honest there are some very bad holes in some of the back streets of Lochgelly and in Cowdenbeath, Hall Street has been pretty horrendous for a very long time.

The worst street in Kelty was resurfaced due to the village's councillor Alex Campbell kicking up a noise about the state of Keltyhill Road.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to go along that road before it was repaired and my god it was in some state.

So there is cash available from Holyrood to fix our roads and I honestly hope that the roads people turn their attention to the roads in this area.

We need to have these fixed while the good weather is with us.

I am not sure how they choose what roads to repair but I think that the potholers turn out when people phone up.

It could be that you can nominate problem areas with a phone call or online.

Maybe these will be tackled maybe not but at least if they are nominated then the powers that be cannot say they do not know about them.

Hopefully we shall see the repairs gathering momentum as the cash clicks in.

ROADSTER,

Lochgelly.
