COULD I just say that the news in the Times last week about the plans to start a community garden in Lumphinnans was indeed very encouraging.

To be honest from the minute that the Coalfields Trust came to Lumphinnans there has been a lot of enthusiasm about the plans put forward.

The community garden idea is going to be something that is going to not only make a real difference to the look of the Ochilview area it is going to be something which will help people get gardening skills.

The thing is that the Coalfields Trust has been able to get important support aboard too.

The land itself being donated by Fife Housing Group apparently came from their local Housing Officer working with with the Tenants and Residents Association since its inception.

By supporting their tenants they have made it possible to establish the community garden and it will be interesting to see what develops over the coming months.

There are a lot of people in Lumphinnans who definitely want to help make a difference in their community and will be really thrilled at the success this group has had.

To be honest, as was stated in your article, it just goes to show what can be accomplished when people are enthusiastic about helping to improve their local communities and work together to achieve a common goal.

Now by the late spring and early summer the garden should be up and running and I bet there are a lot of people who will go along to pick up tips on how to make your garden better.

Growing vegetables is a handy thing too to get tips on because it can give you cheap additions to your weekly food intake.

So what I would say to villagers is get involved and help establish a facility that will make a difference to Lumphinnans in many ways.
