I AM writing on behalf of the Benarty Heritage Preservation Group to point out that our group were not involved in any of the discussions or initial consultations regarding a Fife Mining Heritage Centre to be built in Lochgelly.

Quoting from the Central Fife Times: "Lochs councillor Ann Bain asked what sort of consultation had been done with other Heritage Groups and Ms Erskine said that the Lochgelly people had been speaking to other community groups in Cowdenbeath, Kinglassie, and Cardenden and more discussions would be taking place."

The main purpose of this correspondence is to pursue a Fife Heritage Centre at Lochore Meadows Country Park, involving not only local history groups but seeking support and involvement from Fife wide heritage groups.

We hope recent developments, such as proposed grants and identified sites do not compromise, or prejudice our endeavours to have the Fife Heritage Centre at Lochore Meadows.

Lochore Meadows Country Park is an ideal site for the above project and already has car parking facilities, and weekly and annual events which attract over half a million people as visitors every year.

JIM TAYLOR,

Secretary,

Benarty Heritage Preservation Group.
