THE three days of work done by the Benarty Fundraisers showed not only tremendous work by volunteers.

It also showed the amazing generosity by the residents of the Benarty and Lochgelly areas.

The two teams that the Fundraisers set up brought a lot of fun to the streets of the Benarty villages of Glencraig, Lochore, Crosshill and Ballingry and also to those of Lochgelly and the children found it an amazing sight to see Minions and Superheroes working away.

However, the Fundraisers were first to admit that they were totally amazed by the generosity of the people who made some incredible donations.

The tonnage that was given was almost 4,000 in number, and of course, there were the 4,000 tonnes of potatoes and onions from local farmers.

This was indeed a fantastic effort. Davie Farrell, one of the businessmen who provided transportation for the week, described as ‘a self generating carnival’ and carnival was the perfect way to talk about a phenomenal event.

To see so much donated to ensure that the Benarty Food Bank can continue to make sure that it can meet the increasing needs of the communities of Benarty and Lochgelly, says it all about the work of the volunteers and the generosity of the residents of the many streets. It is a huge well done.
