THE firm of developers who created the new North End Retail Park in Cowdenbeath have every right to be proud of the results of their project.

While it took a bit of time to totally come to fruition, the plans lodged many years ago, originally by Tesco, to create a retail site on North End Park has certainly created something which will bring more people to the town.

The original Tesco project was abandoned and led to the football ground and surrounds becoming a jungle and it seemed that nothing was ever going to happen at the site.

Then came along London and Scotland Investments and the town now has four excellent stores which certainly means that the people of Cowdenbeath now have four popular stores on their doorsteps but more important, it brings shopping facilities for the people of Lochgelly and all the surrounding villages.

Allied to the work done at the south end of High Street by the SUSTRANS scheme the High Street transformation is indeed almost complete but alas the Crown Hotel mess is still with us.

That needs to be tackled before the transformation is completed and hopefully the commitment of the owner of the property to seeing change brings results.
