THE Beath-Malawi Partnership is fast becoming a massive success story.

Since former Rector Douglas Young started it around eight years ago it has seen pupils and staff create a fantastic link between the Cowdenbeath school and two schools in Malawi.

The great thing about the Partnership is that over the years it has become a community venture rather than just the school.

The people of the area have made tremendous contributions to trips made by Cowdenbeath youngsters to Africa.

The thing is that the Beath connection has taken a lot to the partner schools’ children in terms of some very useful equipment and all sorts of important educational ideas.

Coming back the other way has been amazing experiences for the Beath pupils who have been to Malawi and also the staff who have been warmly welcomed into both partner schools.

The most recent visit to Njale and Mapanga schools by a mixture of current and former Beath staff members saw the Partnership strengthened further and saw artistic work make a real impression on the two schools.

2020 is the start of thebsecond decade of the Beath-Malawi Partnership and the enthusiasm of both sets of pupils assures it will continue to develop.
