THERE is every reason for a lot of support for Councillor Alex Campbell's stance on the blight on Cowdenbeath High Street being removed.

Councillor Campbell hopes that he can find out from the owner of the burnt out shell of the former Crown Hotel directly across the road from the £8m Lidl and B&M retail site what the way ahead is.

As one of our letter writers suggests this week things are needing tackled at a time of great improvements in the town.

The SUSTRANS project to the south, and the retail park to the north, are making a huge difference to the former mining town and to complete the job an upgrade of the Crown is needed.

Now this has been something that has been on the agenda of all sorts of local politicians for more than a decade without anything positive on the ground coming to fruition. MPs, MSPs and councillor have tried.

The burnt out shell has been on the High Street for so long many people just may forget that it once was not there!

Hopefully Councillor Campbell will get positive feedback from the owner of the building for the site has been the subject of planning applications.

What we need is something tangible, for the retail site is due to open in part this weekend. We cannot wait much longer.
