THE closure of the Meedies loch to public users was indeed something that people should be concerned about.

The fact that over 100 fish were found dead at the loch, which is a key element of one of Scotland's biggest visitor attractions, is highly concerning.

The loch is heavily used at this time of year by people with all sorts of activities and the water feature being out of use is a something that everyone connected with the attraction will have concerns about.

Hopefully the cause of the death of the fish is something that can be quickly determined and sorted out.

While Loch Ore is by no means the only superb aspect of the country park, it is something that is used daily by a great many people and it being taken out of the equation can have an impact on visitor numbers.

There are an amazing number of people who come from all over Scotland to use the water facilities at the Meedies and these being out of action will have been a blow to the staff of the outdoor education centre at Lochore Meadows.

Hopefully there will be no suspicious reason for the deaths of the creatures and the park can operate at 'full ahead' for the remainder of the summer season.

While the weather has not been as good as last summer, when all records were broken at the park, perhaps this year's visitor numbers can get near the amazing total of in excess of 800,000.
