THE moves to create dementia friendly communities in the area is something that should be welcomed.

The successful evening held at the Corrie Centre last week attracted a lot of people who are taking the initiative very seriously.

Dementia is a condition that can strike people much earlier than many think and the sessions that are to be held throughout the Cardenden, Benarty and Lochgelly area will allow people to learn how they can recognise symptoms and how to help relatives, friends and colleagues who may get it.

Dementia is a condition which will have a major impact on a person's life but by understanding it and learning how you can help a sufferer, it can make such a difference.

There will be a session run by Ruth McCabe on March 25 at the Lochgelly Centre and it is hoped that there will be a big turn out of people to find out how the town can become Dementia Friendly and there will also be a session in Benarty soon. Ruth's aim is to make Benarty, Cardenden and Lochgelly Dementia Friendly and if the response is as enthusiastic as it was in Cardenden she will be on her way to her goal.
