IT was indeed a sad time in Cardenden when the highly successful 4th Fife Scout Group saw their refurbished hall hit by fire last week.

The outbreak caused severe damage to the rear of the hall which contains the equipment storage area, and there was also smoke and water damage to the facility.

However, within hours of the situation having developed at the Cardenden Road hall, which has had thousands of pounds spent on it through tremendous fundraising work by the 4th Fife, allied to important grants won from many sources.

That saw a complete revamp of the facility including a new kitchen area, windows and heating, and now the group's officers find themselves having to take stock after this devastating blow.

But one thing is certain, the determined group will aim to get the hall back into shape as soon as possible and the Cardenden community will be right behind them.

The spirit of the former mining community will ensure that there will be plenty of backing to ensure that 4th Fife overcome this major setback.
