THERE is no doubt that the mess caused in the car park at Central Park in Cowdenbeath was totally unacceptable.

The council owned car park has become a regular haunt for young motorists in the late evening and for the most part there are no real problems.

They meet there and have a blether, but when they start throwing rubbish out of their car windows it becomes a major problem.

The situation met by taxi driver Colin Sneddon rightly shocked him and it does nothing for Cowdenbeath at a time when considerable investment has been making a difference to the centre of the town.

The work on the refurb of the High Street area is nearing completion and is set to give the town centre a completely more attractive look geared to bringing more people into the retail hub of the district.

But to have one of the central area's car parks left in a massive mess needlessly will be very frustrating for those steering the High Street new look.

It may be that the young drivers who caused the problem will be persuaded that use of the bins are a better way of discarding their rubbish, if not stronger action will be required.
