'I AM delighted to be writing in the Politician’s Opinion Column once more. In these past few months I have been hard at work to get the best for all my constituents.

I have attended the Scottish Youth Parliament’s 65th Annual Sitting where I took part in several discussions on issues such as Brexit and young people’s rights. We had the chance to work with law professors and students on real life examples of human rights breaches, I was pleased to be working on the famous case of Evans versus the UK. It was a great sitting and I cannot wait for SYP66.

I was also delighted to attend the Scottish Government’s, in partnership with SYP, event ‘Right’s Review’ where I delivered a speech to nine Cabinet Secretaries and Ministers and Government officials to try and get young people's right to appeal punishments in school in to this years Rights Review that comes before the Scottish Parliament before the end of 2018. More information on this can be found on our website.

I have also been hard at work on YoYP2018 and other exciting projects that are upcoming in the constituency. I recently met with CLD and fellow YoYP2018 Ambassadors to nail down on our plans to celebrate in the Lochgelly and the wider Cowdenbeath Area. Keep an eye out on social media and in and around centres and schools for events being promoted.

I am delighted to announce that I will be taking forward a Member’s (Action) Motion on Adverse Childhood Experiences to the 66th Annual Sitting of the SYP. I have bene hard at work on this motion for the past few months and cannot wait to put it before the membership. It is a big focus and priority of mines and I cannot wait to see the outcome. You can find more information about my motion and ACEs on my twitter @BaileyLeeMSYP and on the NHS Health Scotland website.

Finally, I would like to take a moment to wish all S6 pupils who will not be returning to high school after exams. You should all be proud of yourselves, with the stories we hear about and we see on school’s social media and newsletters, you all contribute so much to your school. It will be sad to finally see you all go but I know you will all go far. Good luck for the future and for whatever you are going on to do. You’ll ace it!

If any young person (12-25) has an issue/concern they’d like me to raise, or wants to know more about my work, please get in touch by emailing hello@syp.org.uk, or following me on Twitter: @BaileyLeeMSYP. '
