IT will indeed be sad day if Cowdenbeath fail to win their Pyramid Pay-off tie with either Cove Rangers or Spartans.

A spell in the Lowland League is not what the club needs but at the same time you have to ask how has the Blue Brazil landed on the bottom rung for the second successive season.

The fact was that losing Gary Locke as boss in July was a bad blow for he had the contacts which could have seen a pretty decent squad start the season.

As it was Billy Brown took over and he struggled to persuade players to come to Central Park.

Since Gary Bollan took over he has slowly pieced together a squad whose results have seen them perform as a mid table outfit since the start of March but the damage done in the early part of the season has been difficult to repair.

Hopefully Gary will be able to engineer victory in the play-offs but it will not be easy at all against a club who will be full of ambition.

The fans must get behind the team in this hour of need and that will help to give Cowden that extra bit of backing home and away
