THERE is no doubt that there are bound to be concerns about the capabilities of the current Lochgelly Health Centre being able to cope with the demands of the growing town.

But it is not just the health service in the town which would be seriously under pressure, there has to be concern over the educational capacity of Lochgelly.

Hopefully the work of the local councillors could make a big impact on this and get the authorities to consider what the way ahead should be.

Make no mistake as Lochgelly has grown over the past few years the health centre has become too small to cope.

I would personally think that we need an extra GP now never mind when the town’s population continues to grow for it does take some time to get an appointment at the health centre.

Mark Hood is right to raise the issue and perhaps be able to influence NHS Fife, who it was good to see in your article are acknowledging that there is pressure on the existing infrastructure.

Now I am aware that it will take time for the hundreds of extra homes to appear in Lochgelly but at this stage I would say it would be better to be ready for the increase and have arrangements in place to deal with the situation.

I noticed in last week’s comment section an item about the lack of facilities in Kelty to deal with planned homes developments so it is clearly not an issue which is single to Lochgelly.

The town has three primary schools but will these be enough if we get even 200 extra homes? that is something else which needs to be looked at I would say.

it may be that at a time of reductions in spending in council services this may be a problem but at least of the plans are in the pipeline to deal with it then eventual progress will be swifter.

HEALTH WATCHER, Lochgelly.
