THAT Fife Council are pulling out the stops to find out what is causing the flooding problems on Cowdenbeath High Street is to be welcomed.

Already a local businesswoman has had to give up operating her cafe on the west end of the street near the entrance to Central Park because of being flooded out during heavy falls of rain.

There is no doubt that the roads department is keen to find out what is causing the problem because other agencies have sort of decided not to dig too deep. Also the plan to find out what excavation plans agencies may have for the road running up High Street is a good one so that the final resurfacing of this important road will last a reasonable length of time before it is opened up again.

At a time when the Town Centre Steering Group is working hard to give the area a new image this work has to be welcomed.

This joined up working shows that the local authority is committed to making a difference to the town’s image and a quality surface to the main thoroughfare through the town is something that has to be a must.
