SINCE Dunfermline Food Bank opened over a year ago there has been the thick end of 800 visits from people from the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.
That is a simple fact produced by John Drylie, the man who has spearheaded the Auld Grey Toun bank.
With almost 500 people from the Lochs and Lochgelly and Cardenden wards going to Dunfermline for assistance it is clear that the Crosshill based food bank is very much needed and Mr Drylie’s revelation that just over 300 people from Cowdenbeath, Hill of Beath, Crossgates and Lumphinanns, emphasises that there is a need for a similar facility in Cowdenbeath.
Mr Drylie has said that he has been involved in making preparatory arrangements for a facility in the town and is hoping to be involved in the creation of a Cowdenbeath Food Bank and one hopes that this move is one which can be put in motion sooner rather than later.
Clearly there are families and individuals out there who could benefit from the help a Food Bank can offer which goes beyond provisions and the town needs one.
