A youth’s dangerous driving resulted in him mounting a pavement and striking a female pedestrian.
The 17-year-old then continued to drive the vehicle with the woman pinned to it, dragging her along.
The horrific incident took place at around 4.10pm on a Friday afternoon.
The offender, who cannot be name for legal reasons, did not hold a full licence and it was his second dangerous driving incident within weeks.
The youth, who lives locally, has appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on April 14, at Dunfermline Road, Crossgates and elsewhere, he drove a car dangerously.
He stopped and reversed into a live carriageway, causing a collision with a van, causing damage to both vehicles, all in an effort to evade police officers.
He was driving without a driving licence and with no insurance.
He also admitted that on June 5, at Main Street, Torryburn, he caused seriously injury to a woman by driving a car dangerously.
He crossed over into the opposite carriageway, mounted a footpath and struck the woman there.
Then with her pinned to the vehicle he dragged her along and broke through the gates of a premises there whereby she was thrown to the ground.
A wall, gates and a parked vehicle were all damaged.
He was driving as the holder of a provisional licence, unaccompanied by a qualified driver and not displaying ‘L’ plates. He was also driving without insurance.
Sentencing was deferred until October 14 and a temporary driving ban imposed.
Following the Torryburn incident, police issued a statement saying they were still trying to trace the occupants of the vehicle.
The 55-year-old woman was taken to hospital where her condition was initially described as “serious”.
