A 34-year-old man with a “horrendous” record has been jailed for defecating in two police cells.
The disgusting incidents occurred at Dunfermline police station after Kyle Bowes had been arrested in Lochgelly.
He was also taken twice to the Victoria Hospital during the prolonged disorder and caused significant disruption there, while patients waited for treatment.
Bowes, of Claymore Drive, Glenrothes, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court by video-link from prison.
He admitted committing offences on July 20 at Grainger Street, Lochgelly, in a police vehicle, at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and at Dunfermline police station.
He threatened to defecate in a police vehicle, repeatedly struggled with and ran from police officers having been lawfully arrested.
He repeatedly screamed, repeatedly struck his head against a wall and the ground. He then repeatedly kicked the inside of a police vehicle.
He also repeatedly defecated at the police cells, repeatedly shouted and swore. He repeatedly spat and repeatedly threatened police officers with violence.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said that after being arrested, Bowes swallowed something in the police van and was taken to the Victoria Hospital.
When there, Bowes continued with disruptive behaviour, struggling with police and being put in restraints.
However, he managed to run off before being stopped by officers and began screaming at the top of his voice.
On his way to the police station, he managed to get the straps off his legs and wrapped them around his neck. As a precaution he was taken back to the Vic for a check-up.
When he finally made it to Dunfermline police station he defecated on the floor of a cell. He was moved into another cell and promptly defected there as well.
A professional cleaning company was required to clear up the mess.
Defence solicitor Martin McGuire said: “He was highly intoxicated after taking drugs.”
Sheriff Susan Duff told Bowes: “You have a horrendous record and your conduct on this occasion was absolutely appalling.” She jailed him for eight months.
