BENARTY Community Shop raised more than £1,300 for Breast Cancer Now after bringing members of the local community together for delicious treats, fun and fundraising.
The afternoon tea was organised by event coordinator and assistant manager, Ashley Nimmo, with help from shop manager, Lorna Gallagher, and their dedicated volunteers - and they managed to beat last year's total in the process.
Ashley said: “I honestly couldn't be prouder of what we achieved. Lorna and I put so much time and effort into making sure the afternoon was as successful as possible, and to see everything come together on the day was amazing.
“We knew there was another event happening locally on the same day, so naturally we were a little worried that it might affect our numbers.
"But our community came through for us yet again, and we managed to not only raise an incredible amount for Breast Cancer Now but actually beat what we raised last year.
“That makes me incredibly proud. It shows just how generous and supportive the people in our community are, and I really can't thank everyone enough for getting behind us.
Guests enjoyed a selection of delicious cakes, tea and coffee, along with raffles, tombola, a teddy bear name game and plenty of opportunities to chat, have fun and enjoy the afternoon together.
Ashley added: "I'd like to give a huge thank you to Lorna, our amazing volunteers and everyone who helped in any way, whether that was donating prizes, buying raffle tickets, coming along on the day or simply spreading the word. It really was a team effort.”
