ALL roads lead to Wallsgreen Park this Sunday when the 6th Bowhill Highland Games take place.
And with the weather forecast predicting sunshine it should be a great event - it's free admission - for all of the family.
Don Campbell, chairman of the games committee, said: “Preparations are well underway for our biggest ever games this Sunday in terms of competitors, with over 100 Highland dancers, a record turnout in the solo piping contest and the biggest turnout of cyclists and runners at this, the last Highland Games of the 2026 season."
Proceedings will begin on a sombre note with a wreath laying ceremony at the Bowhill War Memorial and then the Miners' Grave at Bowhill Cemetery at 11am.
Added Don: “Led by Fife Council provost, Jim Leishman, and games chieftain, Reid Maxwell, acknowledged as the 'world champion drummer', the parade will then head to Wallsgreen Park in Cardenden to get everything underway.
“Reid left Bowhill in the early 1980’s and emigrated to Canada and last month guided his pipe band, 'Simon Fraser Canada,' to become world champions.
“He is an amazing example of Bowhill talent making a difference and we are delighted to have him here for this great local occasion.”
You'll be able to watch athletes compete in the traditional heavyweight, brute strength events such as the caber toss, hammer throw, and shot put, Highland dancers having a fling, cyclists on the track and runners of all ages competing to get across the line first.
Bowhill is renowned as being the last Highland Games of the season.
The timetable is Highland dancing commencing at 10am; the Ladies heavies at 11am and solo piping also at 11am; with the track events beginning at noon.
There will also be a village market with more than 28 stalls for people to enjoy.
