The Cowdenbeath Primary School community came together to celebrate its 150th anniversary with a special event on Friday, September 4.
Current pupils and staff welcomed their predecessors to the fun day, during which they reflected on the institution’s journey since 1876.
Headteacher Murray Begg said: “This event was a wonderful way to launch our 150th anniversary celebrations. It was fantastic to see so many members of our school and wider community come together to celebrate the rich history of Cowdenbeath Primary School.”
Representatives of the emergency services were in attendance, with vehicles and equipment that proved particularly popular with the children.
They also enjoyed face painting, a silent disco, large inflatables, sports activities, theatre and dance workshops, ice cream, cakes and a buffet lunch.
Mr Begg continued: “While this celebration has been a highlight of our anniversary year, it is only the beginning. Throughout this academic session, we will be delivering a range of school and class-based activities that will help our learners explore the history of the school and its important place within the Cowdenbeath community over the past 150 years.
“These activities will provide opportunities for pupils and families to engage with local heritage, celebrate shared memories and strengthen connections between past, present and future generations of the Cowdenbeath Primary School community.”
He thanked partners, sponsors, staff, parents and volunteers whose support made the day possible.
