A woman has been charged after a police chase through Dunfermline that ended when the car being pursued crashed into several other vehicles.
It started yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon at Greenshank Drive, in the city’s Duloch area, with the high-speed incident continuing along Halbeath Road.
Footage shared online showed a car speeding on the wrong side of the road with a police car following quickly behind.
It ended with a multi-vehicle crash on St Margaret's Drive, just outside the city's railway station, and the driver running off.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.45pm on Tuesday, August 25, a vehicle failed to stop for officers in the Greenshank Drive area of Dunfermline.
“Officers engaged in a pursuit and the vehicle was lost from sight.
“Around 5.55pm the same vehicle collided with a bus and three cars on St Margaret’s Drive.
“The driver of the vehicle made off from the scene on foot.”
Traffic leaving the city centre came to a standstill for a period, with long delays and drivers stuck on the A823 between St Leonard’s Street and East Port.
The spokesperson continued: “The female passenger of the vehicle was charged in connection with road traffic and drugs offences.
"She was subsequently taken to hospital to be checked over.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.”
