A PUBLIC meeting is set to be held in Lochore following an incident in which a motorbike hit a 94-year-old woman.
The Times previously reported that at around 2.15pm on May 25, a woman, now identified as Peggy Maxwell, was hospitalised with "serious injuries following an incident involving a black surron motorbike on Lochleven Road.
The motorcyclist, a 17-year-old male, was treated for minor injuries. A youth was later charged, and proceedings are ongoing.
Richard Baker, MP, wrote on Facebook: "Peggy Maxwell suffered horrendous injuries after being struck by an electric motorbike in Lochore, in May. It was an awful incident which shocked the community to the core.
"Court proceedings are ongoing, so I can't comment on the specifics of this case. But I can say this: Peggy is a remarkable, inspirational woman who, despite being 94-years-old, pulled through emergency surgery and is determined to get her independent life back following months of painful recovery.
"I had the privilege of meeting Peggy and her family shortly after she was released from the hospital, and left her house even more determined that no one should go through the ordeal Peggy has."
Next month, Richard Baker MP is set to hold a public meeting at Lochore Miners Welfare Social Club on September 25 6pm with David Barratt MSP and Police Scotland Fife.
The purpose is to discuss illegal biking and hear the public's views and experiences, as well as opinions on how the issue can be tackled.
