FAMILIES had a 'brilliant' day at Cardenden Village Fair at the weekend.

On Sunday (August 23), locals came together at Wallgreen Park for a day of activites from 11.30am-4pm. The day has long been a stand-out event in the area's calendar and has been running for 16 years.

Treasurer of the Cardenden Village Fair committee, Keith Johnston, said: "It was a good day with good weather. There wasn't a bad crowd considering Rockore was on the same day.

"We had the kids' races, circus performers that were going around doing displays, highland dancers, aerobic dancers, the pipe band and bouncy castles."

For the adults, there were many craft stalls to browse through, and local cause groups raising funds.

Keith continued: "People come from further afield [than just Cardenden]; we advertise on all the Facebook pages and there's word of mouth.

"We thought the day was brilliant and we had great volunteers (Rosemary Wallace and the 4th Fife Scouts) who cleaned up at the end."

The Cardenden Village Fair Committee also wants to thank Ventient, Foundation Scotland, Ore Valley, and Fife Council for their support and funding for the event.
