A Cardenden school has received a letter of congratulations from the First Minister as it marks 100 years of education.
St Ninian’s RC Primary School was presented with the letter by David Barratt MSP, who visited the school at the start of the new term to mark its centenary.
Mr Barratt said: “A special way to start the new school term at St Ninian’s RC Primary School in Cardenden.
“I was proud to be able to visit the school and present a letter from the First Minister congratulating pupils, staff and the wider school community on reaching its 100th anniversary.
“The school first opened its doors in 1926 and has been at the heart of Bowhill and Cardenden ever since.
“It was great to hear from headteacher Shona Gorman and the pupils about the celebrations and achievements that have marked this special year.”
A Scottish Parliament motion lodged by the politician also congratulated the school on its centenary. It said St Ninian’s had “established deep roots in the Bowhill and wider Cardenden community”.
Achievements during the anniversary year include the school earning a SportScotland Gold School Sport Award, being named Fife Netball Champions, and pupils receiving CREST Star Awards for STEM challenges.
Mr Barratt added: “A big thank you to the Parent Council for inviting me along, and to Councillor Rosemary Liewald for joining me.
“Most importantly, congratulations to all the pupils and staff at St Ninian’s.
“Here’s to the next 100 years!”
