A new hairdresser has opened in Lochgelly, run by two young women.

Renn & Murphy has officially opened its doors on the town's Auchterderran Road, after an open day on Sunday, August 9.

Run by locals Terri Proudfoot, 35 and Megan Murphy, 31, the salon specialises in blonde services.

The duo will be working together in the salon, and they will have a few other hairdressers renting chairs.

Speaking to the Times about why they decided to start the business, Terri said: “We’ve been working together for four years, and I’ve worked in Lochgelly for 20 years, and we just thought it was time to branch out and do our own thing.”

The location on Auchterderran Road was previously Shades, and the pair are keen to follow in its footsteps and make their new salon “a community place”.

Terri added: “There’s been a few renovations, we’ve completely refurbed it and modernised it, but we’re very, very excited."
