A Cardenden mum who feared she may have suffered a stroke has transformed her health and lost an incredible three stone and three and a half lbs.

Katie Paton, 34, joined Heather's Lochgelly Slimming World group after a frightening health scare last year gave her the wake-up call she needed.

Katie said: "I took a turn at work and was tested for strokes.

"Thankfully it turned out to be a migraine that mimics stroke symptoms, but doctors told me I was at a very high risk of having a heart attack or stroke because of my weight.

"As a mum of two young girls, that really scared me."

At her heaviest, Katie weighed 19st 11lbs and admits she was struggling physically and emotionally.

"My eating habits were out of control.

"I'd regularly have takeaways, eat large sharing bags of crisps and turn to food whenever I was upset, stressed or angry.

"I felt ashamed that I'd let my weight reach that point."

Since joining Slimming World, Katie has completely changed her relationship with food.

"I've stopped relying on takeaways and now choose healthier options.

"The plan has taught me that I can still enjoy food without feeling guilty, and that's been life-changing."

The impact has gone far beyond the scales.

Katie now has more energy, greater confidence and can enjoy being active with her daughters.

"There was a time when I couldn't run around with my girls without feeling out of breath.

"Now we go swimming, walk the dog and play together.

"Being able to make those memories means everything to me."

She credits much of her success to the support she receives each week from Heather and fellow members in group.

"I always tell people to attend group, whether they've had a good week or a difficult one.

"The support, encouragement and ideas from everyone keep you going."

Katie says her greatest achievement is believing in herself again.

"My kids recently told me I looked pretty in my new clothes and that meant the world to me.

"I'm proud of how far I've come and excited for what the future holds."

Inspired by Katie's success? Why not take the first step yourself?
