A major road connecting Central Fife to Kirkcaldy will close for more than a month to allow for £440,000 resurfacing works.
Fife Council has announced that a section of the B9157, known locally as Orrock Quarry Road, will be shut between the Kinghorn and Auchtertool junctions from Monday, August 17, to Friday, September 18.
The B9157 is a key route for traffic between Burntisland, Aberdour, Dalgety Bay and Kirkcaldy.
A signed diversion will be in place via the A909, B923 and A921 through Kinghorn and Burntisland.
The council said the closure is part of a £440,000 improvement project, which includes removing the existing road surface, carrying out ironwork repairs, resurfacing the carriageway and reinstating road markings.
The road will be closed 24 hours a day throughout the works for safety reasons.
Normal working hours will be Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 4pm, although work may extend into evenings or weekends if required.
Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services where safe.
The works are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions change.
Updates will be shared via the council’s website and social media channels, with road signs also in place to alert drivers.
Residents and businesses will be notified in advance of any works directly affecting them.
